Spring 2002
This residential site embodies the core value of Denise Weber Landscapes: “Planning & Creating Exterior Living Environments”.
An exterior living environment is a balanced naturalistic landscape that is in itself alive and allows human comforts and preferences to coexist with other flora and fauna.
A strong motivation for this design was a desire to create an alternative to a typical front porch with space for seating and a feeling of being nestled in nature.
Seeking a retreat and no interest in the noise of a mower, this site has been established with groundcovers, which also helps to minimize the need for weeding. The choice of native and Florida-friendly plantings has allowed this site to establish itself with little water input.
A hand-laid walkway of recycled concrete fragments leading to the front door provides a nice separation between a swath of Lilyturf (Liriope spicata) and a medley of native and Florida-friendly plantings.
Careful consideration for the streetscape includes screening to lend privacy while retaining an open feel with shade under the original tree canopy.
